Hysterical Until Proven Rational is a layflat booklet exploring how the medical system routinely dismisses women’s pain. Too often, doctors are not taught to recognize or diagnose conditions that primarily affect women, and symptoms that defy easy explanation are labeled as “emotional”—a modern echo of the outdated diagnosis of hysteria.

This publication is both a critique and a call to action, urging medical institutions to reexamine how women’s health is taught in medical schools and how patients with complex emotional and physical conditions are treated in practice. Through bold design and clear narrative, it confronts the deep biases embedded in medicine and demands a long-overdue reckoning.
